Chad received his formal training as a scholarship student of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Musical Theatre Program at Sam Houston State University where he was also later awarded a Distinguished Theatre Alumni Award for “achievement in professional theatre”. He has had the great privilege of teaching side by side Mr. Bob Fosse’s protégé, Chet Walker, who co-conceived the award-winning musical FOSSE. Chad has also worked with such nationally acclaimed artists and Broadway veterans as: Jack Dabdoub, Marie Danvers, Rob Gallagher, Jana Robbins, Katie Clarke, and Greg Graham; in addition to Emmy Award television actors, Chad Brannon and Meredith Hagner; Christina Aguilaira’s choreographer Jermaine Browne; American Ballet Theatre’s George de La Pena; and ballet star of the movie musical CHICAGO, Ekaterina Shelkanova.
With over 150 productions to his name, Chad has been involved in professional and community theatres across the country for the past 20 years. Favorite roles he has played include the title roles in Barnum, George M!, and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He performed in the 50th Anniversary Broadway National Tour of Singin’ In The Rain, which toured 46 states in the U.S., plus Canada. Chad served as the Artistic Director for Children’s Theatre for the Gettysburg Festival in 2008 and 2009. He also co-directed the world premiere musical Helen And Teacher at the Gettysburg College Kline Theatre, and sang the role of King Kaspar in Amahl And The Night Visitors at The Majestic Theatre for Music Gettysburg! Last summer he and his students were honored to perform in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Lutheran Theological Seminary Chapel for Music Gettysburg providing two standing room only performances free to the community. Recently Chad chartered the International Thespian Troupe #7640 for Gettysburg Area High School where he is their Thespian Troupe Director and Theatre Director. Chad is now seeing his life-long dream come true with the opening of the Adams County School of Musical Theatre and he wishes to thank every student, parent, volunteer, staff member, board member, and patron for being a part of it all. | |
| A NOTE FROM THE EXECUTIVE/ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Welcome to my dream come true! On February 2, 2009 we held our first classes here at the Adams County School of Musical Theatre. We are very pleased to now be in our third year, our 2011 "Something Wonderful" Season!
Having grown up in a community children’s theatre academy myself, it has been my dream to one day open and run a theatre company just as my mentor did back home outside of Houston, Texas. Realizing my dreams and goals through the theatre has been wonderful and I hope to inspire my students to do the same...find and realize their dreams and goals.
I am thrilled to have had our first two productions premiere at The Gettysburg Festival, and I am also honored to have co-directed the world premiere musical Helen And Teacher, a new musical based on the lives of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, which had many of our students in the original cast at the Kline Theatre. This past summer offered musical theatre day camps for children, as well as presented our productions of Seussical, Jr. and School House Rock Live, Jr. In December we presented our own original musical, Santa’s Winter Wonderland and the stunning Disney's Beauty & The Beast Jr. to packed houses. We were also thrilled to have many of our students featured in the opera Amahl And The Night Visitors at the Majestic Theatre for Music Gettysburg! My students and I were thrilled to perform in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat last summer at the Lutheran Theological Seminary Chapel for Music Gettysburg! We are so honored to be the only children's theatre within Adams County and we look forward to seeing everyone at our many performances this year. As a non-profit organization we rely heavily on corporate sponsorships and donations from arts supporters such as you. Please consider helping us achieve our mission to inspire creativity and confidence, provide cultural enrichment, and instill a love of the theatre arts in young people through quality education, training, and performing experiences in musical theatre.
Thank you so much for being here. “Dream A Little Dream With Me!”
