Sean Mott
“SOME ENCHANTED EVENING IN GETTYSBURG!”
Adams County School of Musical Theatre will hold its 3rd Annual Gala on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 6:30pm. The event features a professional concert of Rodgers & Hammerstein's “Some Enchanted Evening”, a silent auction, and wine and Hors d'oeuvre reception before and after the concert. This event begins at 6:30pm at ACSMT located at 49 York Street in Gettysburg. Tickets are $45 and may be purchased by calling the theatre at 717-334-2692 or emailing executiveartisticdirector@acsmt.org
Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOME ENCHANTED EVENING is a concert of their very best and well-known music from their popular musicals such as South Pacific, Carousel, Oklahoma, The King And I, and The Sound Of Music. The audience will be filled with delight as the professional cast of singers provides an evening of beautiful songs such as: “Oh What A Beautiful Mornin'”, “Shall We Dance”, “Something Wonderful”, “This Nearly Was Mine”, “My Favorite Things”, “Climb Every Mountain”, “If I loved You”, and many more. This year's gala cast features local professional talent such as: Wayne Hill, J. Edward Riggs, Kathleen Sasnett, Sean Mott, Pamela Cooper-White, and Rachel Doehring. ACSMT Founding Executive/Artistic Director, Chad-Alan Carr, will also be singing along with some of his students.
“The annual gala at ACSMT helps raise much needed funds for the entire season of the county's only children's theatre”, says Carr. “As a not-for-profit organization, we rely heavily on this one fundraiser a year and on the continued support of patrons of the arts in our community.”
Included in this year's cast is Gettysburg Alumnus Sean Mott. Sean is fresh back from Ohio where he completed law school. He recently passed the bar exam in NY and is in the midst of studying for the PA bar exam. His passion for music blossomed as a junior at Gettysburg High School when he began to study voice with Kermit Finstad. He then went on to Gettysburg College where he received a B.A. in Music/ Political Science, and studied voice with Jeffrey Fahnestock and Kathleen Sasnett. Sean’s credits include: Curly in Oklahoma! (GHS); Jesus in Godspell (GC); and Archie in The Secret Garden (GC). He’s happy to be back in town and hoping to begin a career in music after completing the PA bar exam. ACSMT is proud to have such talent in the community to be able to present a concert like this where the ACSMT students can learn from and perform with these professional singers.
“Aside from Broadway shows in NYC”, says Carr, “I have never heard such a sound that Sean Mott has with his brilliantly theatrical voice. This caliber of talent in this cast is simply stunning!”

COME SEE OUR CO-PRODUCTION WITH MUSIC GETTYSBURG!

Music, Gettysburg! Co-Presents
Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat August 21-22
Local Actor Reprises His Dream Role With His Own Dream Theatre Company!
Every actor has a dream role! A role in a play or musical that he holds up high as the one role he or she would love to portray. But not every actor actually gets the chance to play his or her dream role. For Musical Theatre triple-threat performer/director Chad-Alan Carr, it is the title role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT that is his dream role. Carr has had the honor of playing this dream role before and now is very excited to reprise the role this month, August 21st at 7:00pm and August 22nd at 2pm at the Gettysburg Seminary chapel with his very own theatre company.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Chad-Alan Carr is no stranger to the stage, with over 100 productions to his name. As a matter of fact, he is no stranger to over 200 different stages across the country, as he was a performer on the 50th Anniversary Broadway National Tour of SINGIN IN THE RAIN, with which he toured 46 States plus Canada. Back in 2004, Carr had the honor of playing his dream role, the title role in the musical JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, in his hometown of Houston, Texas. Now the Founding Executive/Artistic Director of his own “life dream,” his own children’s theatre--Adams County School of Musical Theatre (ACSMT), Carr is very excited to be able to reprise his dream role as “Joseph” in the upcoming co-production with Music Gettysburg!
“It’s really amazing”, says Carr, “I have been directing so much, that it has been a while since I have actually been able to perform in a large show like this at such a glorious venue as the Chapel at the Lutheran Theological Seminary.”
Music Gettysburg! is thrilled to co-produce this musical with ACSMT and present the performances in its fine performing arts space free to the public. Mark Oldenburg, Chair of Music, Gettysburg! notes that musicians and musical ensembles come from all over the country because they love the venue in Gettysburg -- both the chapel's extraordinary acoustics, but the appreciative audiences too. Music Gettysburg! is a premier concert series featuring international, regional and local musical artists for the greater southern Pennsylvania region. Concerts are free and open to the public. Support for the series comes from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, and also directly from businesses and individuals.
“Music, Gettysburg! is overjoyed to help put on this production”, says Oldenburg, “Joseph is a delight – a great Biblical story, with music that sounds like it came from everywhere from Nashville to Las Vegas to 1920’s London. And working with the Adams County School of Musical Theatre gives us a chance to support and present some fine, young local talent. Add free admission to an air-conditioned venue, and it’s a win for everyone!”
"The score is very difficult," Carr says, "but I have been singing along with Donny Osmond on the CD for so long that the songs just come so natural to me now. The best part is the children in the cast. They are truly beautiful."
Tony Award-Winning Writers, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wrote JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT originally for a Children’s Day School, and then after revivals on Broadway, it was Donny Osmond who really made it well known with the revised production now on video. A beautiful family story with children ages 4-18 as well as parents and local singers in the cast, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will play Saturday, August 21 at 7pm and Sunday, August 22 at 2pm at the Lutheran Theological Seminary Chapel, located at 147 Seminary Ridge in Gettysburg. These performances are FREE to the public.
For more information on upcoming auditions, classes, and performances visit the theatre website at www.acsmt.org or call 717-334-2692.
ACSMT is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspire creativity and confidence, provide cultural enrichment, and instill a love of the theatre arts in young people through quality education, training and performing experiences in the art of musical theatre.
